BRISK COMPETITION.

Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having received the following cablegram from their London house, dated 22nd instant:—

The wool sales closed with brisk competition; Continent were the principal operators. Home trade active demand also. As. compared with closing rates of last series:—

Greasy Merino, Id to l%d lower; 6coured Merino, change, if any, is in favour of buyers; greasy halfbred, Id to l%d lower; greasy crossbred, fine, bid to Id lower; greasy crossbred, medium, par to Id lower; greasy crossbred, coarse, par to Id lower; crossbred and bellies and pieces, bid lower; crossbred, scoured, unchanged; slipes, combing fine, Ibid to 2d lower; slipes, other descriptions, par to Id lower; lambs, crossbred, Id to l%d lowei. 100,700 bales offered; Home trade have bought 29,500 bales; Continent, 49,500 bales; America, 1000 bales; carried forward, 33,000 bales, of which 19,500 bales were not offered; total sold, 80,000 bales.
