CROQUET.
PONSONBY CLUB.
The annual meeting of the Ponsonby Croquet Club was held in the-club pavilion and there was a large attendance of membe™- Mrs. Worsfold. president, was in chair. The secretary and treasurer's reports were very satisfactory. A unique gift was presented to the club through Mrs. Worsfold. It took the form of an album containing the photos of presidents and champions of the club, past and present. The donor was Mrs. T. H. Chapman.
-i f 1 ® officers for the ensuing year were elected as follow : — Brown ; vice-presidents. Miss Burton and Mesdames Gallaher, T. Chapman and C. E. Hardley; committee, Mesdames Horsley, W. Chapman, Oswald, Moore, Gall and Worsfold; green superintendent, Mrs. Green (reelected) ; match committee. Mesdames Gallaher, Green, Hilton, Hardley and Wors- *• ' treasurer, Miss Brown; secretary, Mrs Torrance (re-elected) ; tea committed, Mesdames Gall, Buckle and Johnston; delegates to the association, Mesdames Oswald, Hilton and Swales; auditor, Mr. J as. Torrance.
The prises won during the year were presented as follow:—A champion, Mrs. Hilton (for the sixth time) ; runner-up, Mrs. Gallaher; B champion, Mrs. Buckle, runner-up, Mrs. Qill; A doubles, Mesdames Gallaher and Lyon; A handicap, Mrs. Green; rose bowl (challenge), Mrs. Green; B handicap (consolation), Mrs. Gittos; B handicap doubles, Mesdames Evans and Hodge. During the afternoon the pre■sident made presentations, on behalf of the members of the club, to Mesdames Hilton and Torrance as a mark of recognition for their services to the club. The girts took the form of beautiful tea sets.
