WHANGAREI TOWN CLERK.

EX-COUNCILLOR APPOINTED. SEVENTY-ONE APPLICANTS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Mr. Alex. D. Jack, who recently resigned membership of the Whangarei Borough Council after eight years' service, and who had latterly been chairman of the finance committee, was last evening appointed town clerk, vice Mr. C. L. Grange, who has been appointed town clerk of Invercargill. There were 71 applicants for the Whangarei position.
