ANZAC DAY FUNDS.
RELIEF OF EX-SERVICEMEN. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Officials of the Empire Ex-Service Association waited on the Mayor and representatives of the Borough Council yesterday asking that the control of the Anzac Day collection fund be handed to the association so that the money collected might be used in the relief of distressed soldiers and their dependents.
Upon receiving an assurance that the association would undertake to deal with all ex-servicemen seeking work, the Mayor approved the proposal, which was ratified by the council last night. Provision is made for the local body to subsidise the Anzac Day fund from its employment fund.
