'MOTOR CYCLES BAD ENOUGH'

WORSE WHEW K.TDERS DRUNK

MAGISTRATE FINES MAN £5.

Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., by a remark he made at the Police Court this morning, evidently does not possess a very liigh opinion of those men who ride motor cycles.

He had Arthur Stanley Peters (21) before him in the dock on a charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor- cycle in Onslow on Saturday. Peters, represented by Mr. J. J. Sullivan, entered a plea of guilty.

Mr. Sullivan stated that Peters and a companion were in a street behind the Rialto Theatre and were about to ride home. They did not travel more than three yards on the motor cycle, which fell over, hurting Peters' leg. Peters was a respectable young fellow who had never been in trouble of any kind previously. Counsel stressed the point that the case was a venial one, and suggested that a light fine would meet the case.

The police stated that a policeman, observing that Peters' cycle was steering an erratic course, went up to THm and found that he was intoxicated.

These motor cycles are bad enough when the riders are sober, let alone when the men that ride them are drunk," said the magistrate, in imposing a fine of £5 on Peters.
