ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
JUMPERS AT WORK. A QUIET MORNING Shortly after training work began this morning at Ellerslie rain commenced to fall, which made matters unpleasant for those present. There was very little doing, only three gallops being registered on the flat. A number of horses were schooled over either the hurdles or the big fences in the centre and their efforts enlivened the proceedings. On The Flat. On No. 3 grass Thursby and Kelso were thf ; Thursby being well in froht*ofhU oompanipn at the end of six furlongs run in 1.25.' Parfait Amour was sent a similar journey, which he traversed in four seconds faster thai! Thursby, Parfait Armour registering 1.21.
Corinax, whWJodks well, was a shade better than Pirt jit the completion of a six-furlongs tank ij| 1.23 1-5. Salamander {Heal?), and Cool Stimulants (W; Rower)* Were sent over three schooling hurdle*. .Salamander pleased West and gay*agood display except that toe got in tbo close to the second hurdle. SCot Free (Chapliiii) and Adjuster (Sharkey) gave• afrteksing display over a' round of four schooling hurdles. ! Marble Mount (Mephan) negotiated six hurdles, jumping proficiently, and displaying plenty of dash. The Big Fences. Mashoor (Regan), Importer (Sharkey), I?ompeius (Chaplin), and Royal Trek (Olive), werft tried out over the steeplechase fences on the flat." They jumped the- sod wall, double and stone wall. Royal Trek slipped into the first fence of the double and dislodged Jiis rider, but the others all jumped well. After cantering round the horses took on the same fences again, Royal Trek joining in. No-mistakes were made this time. Mashoor and Importer went at the obstacles with plenty of confidence.
