RUGBY FOOTBALL.
GAME IN THE KING COUNTRY. OTOROHANGA-MANIAPOTO DISPUTE. (Fcpm Our Own Correspondent.) TAU.MARUNUI, Wednesday. The dispute between Maniapoto and Otorohanga regarding the admission of the a I '! sub-union of the King Country Rugbj Union has been settled at last, a special general meeting having been held for the purpose of disposing of the matter finally. Mr. O. S. Steadman presided. The president stated that the meeting had been called in accordance with a notice or motion. Mr. T. A. Blyth said that as far as he could see the question was narrowed down to what union the Hangatikl Club was to play under. He thought Hangatikl should go back to Maniapoto and make a start with the season's football A letter as read from the Hangatikl Club setting forth reasons why that club desired to play under the Jurisdiction of the Otorohanga Sub-Union. Mr Steadman then moved that the areas should be defined so that the Hangatikl Club would play with Maniapoto Union and a slight adjustment made In the boundaries so that the Otiwa team would play with Otorohanga. On the motion of Mr. T. A Blyth seconded by Mr. E. A. Rice, It was decided that Kawhia be admitted as a sub-union. It was then resolved, on the motion of Mr. J. Tapp, that Otorohanga be admitted as a sub-union. Messrs. Tapp (Maniapoto) and Trapskl (Otorohanga) both stated that they were pleased that a settlement had been brought about, and were prepared to work for their separate unions In the best interests of football. WELL-KNOWN PLAYER'S DEATH. (From Our Own Correspondent.) TAUMABUNUI, Wednesday. The death occurred In the Taumarunui Hospital on Tuesday «f Mr. Thomas Barry, aged 38, a Well-kncwn King-Country and Taumarunui representative' footballer. The late Mr. Barry was born at Orepuki, Southland. He came'to the Taumarunui district -In the early day* of the war, and saw active service abroad. * He held responsible positions with several sawmilling firms, but towards the end' of last year he took 111. and'. had been an inma<te of the local hospital until his death.. 7 HOT "-SHORE GROUNDS."
