BIRKENHEAD BUSES.
MUNICIPAL SERVICE SUGGESTED.
A motion that the question of the inauguration of a municipal transit service b© considered was moved at the meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council on Tuesday evening by Mr. P. C. Furley, who expressed the opinion that present arrangements were far from satisfactory. Mr. G. B. Hewson seconded, and said the harm done to the borough by the withdrawal of the Marine Suburbs buses should be remedied. Further consideration of the matter was referred to the council in committee. The speed limit down Hinemoa Street was fixed at 15 miles an hour, and 20 miles when proceeding up this thoroughfare. Stop watches are to be furnished to the traffic inspector to check speeding, and an assistant engaged when required.
