SYDNEY, this day. A thrilling chase by a police patrol parly to-day after a motorist who stole a car ended in the fugitive bein" shot in the face. He is now in a critical condition.
Tho police fired six shots while travelling at 60 miles an hour.
Finally the fugitive abandoned the car and was climbing a fence when he was brought down by a revolver bullet.

MAN AND WOMAN WOUNDED. (Recei- " 12 noon.) SYDNEY, this day. Hit/.or (dashing is being continued at Dmliiighurst. At midnight Arthur Uddle was found with extensive wounds in his chest, abdomen and back. One dit was from the chest to the abdomen and measured nine inches.
Ethel Liddle, believed to be his wife, was later treated for wounds in tliJ Howe as a result of a brawl, in which the pair were involved. The man was aged 45.
