POWER OF MONEY.
" You Can't Convict An American Millionaire."
SINCLAIR ACQUITTED. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) (Received 10.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 22. The jury acquitted Mr. H. F. Sinclair in the Criminal and Civil Court actions growing out of the Teapot Dome scandals, and by its verdict rejected the unanimous decisions of the United States Supreme Court and the United States Circuit Court appeals that the Teapot Dome transactions had been fraudulent and corrupt. The jury was out less than two hours and at no time was there any danger of a verdict of guilty, only one or two jurors having a slight difficulty to make up their minds.
The verdict caused" great surprise and it is now undecided whether Mr. A. B. Fall, who was co-defendant with Mr. Sinclair, will be tried on the same charges of fraud.
Senator Xorris said: "We oupht to pass a law that no man worth £20.000,000 should be tried for crime."
Senator Nye said: "\ou cannot con viet a millionaire."
