TAIHAPE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
TAIHAPE, Saturday.
The men's singles and ladies' singles championships were completed at Taihape to-day, when' ideal weather prevailed. In the ladies' final the Wapp sisters put up a line exhibition. Ruby defeating Hilda, 6—4, 6—5. The final of the men's singles championship rested between F. Leahey and R. Henricks, the latter eventually attaining the title, 6—4, 6—3. Results of the championships are as follows:— LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. i First Round.—Miss R. McCormick 9, v. Airs. Cray 5; Miss Cleary 12, v. Miss Potts 10; Mrs. Plummer 6, v. Miss Maloney 9; Miss R. Wapp 9, v. Miss Howens 0; Miss Sexton 9, v. Miss Mortland 7 ; Miss H. Wapp 9, v. Miss C. Dickinson 5; Miss Johnson 10, v. Miss E. McCormack ■8. Second Round.—Miss McCormick 1, v. Miss R. Wapp 9; Miss H. Wapp 9, v. Miss Maloney 6. Final. —Miss R. Wapp defeated Miss H. Wapp, 6—4, 6—5. MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP. First Round. —F. Darvill defeated W. Ross, 6—o, 6—o ; J. Chrlstensen defeated T. Wallace, 6—4, 6—5; R. Bradley defeated J. Mortland, 6—5, 6—l; J. Anderson lost to Henricks, 6—3, 6 —3. Second Round.—Darvill defeated Chrlstensen, I—6, 6—-4, 6—4 ; Henricks defeated Bradley, 6 —4, 2—-6, 6—3 ; Leahey defeated Sexton, 6 —4, 6 —2; Kincaid defeated Lelievre, 6 2, 2—6, 6 1.
Semi-Final. —Henricks defeated F. Darvill, 6 —4, 2—6, 6—3; Leahey defeated Kincaid, 6—5, 6—4.
Final. —Henricks defeated Leahey, B—4, 6—3.
Machines which record on dials the cause and nature of a mishap and where it occurred are being installed on the London Underground Railway.
