KAIPARA HOSPITAL BOARD.
CHAIRMAN ELECTED BY LOT.
At the annual meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board the present chairman, Mr. J. H. McCarroll, was proposed as chairman, as was also Mr. W. Montgomery. The voting was equal. Messrs. Skelton. Sterling and Hunt supporting Mr. McCarroll. Messrs. W. Simpkin, T. Bassett and A. J. Martin (Dargaville Borough) voting for Mr. Montgomery. The names were then put in a hat. Mr. McCarroll drew the lucky number.
For some time the Maoris in the district have been holding socials and dances with the object of providing a oar for the District Xurse. The amount collected is in the vicinity of £60. An application has been made to the Government for a subsidy, and the Minister has advised that a subsidy will be granted provided a British car is purchased.
