PARISHIONERS' MEETING.
ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST,
NORTHOOTE.
There warn a large attendance at the •annual meeting of parishioners of St. John's Anglican Church, Northcote, held in the Parish Hall. The vicar (Rev. T. South worth) presided. The treasurer's report showed a decided improvement in the finance* of the church, due mainly to the inauguration of the duplex system. Although this system has been in operar tion only during the last nine months, the

The following church officers were elected:—Vicar's warden, Mr. H. Cadnees; people's warden, Mr. C. A. Deuxberry; secretary, Mr. Arnold Taylor; treasurer, Mr. C. A. Deuxberry; vestry, Messrs. J. J. Browne, A. E. Oadness, P. Cross, H. Curtis, H. S. Gribben, A. E. Harding, P. Minus, T. Joll, F. C. Swinbaak, and Arnold Taylor; auditor, Mr. H. Burrows.
The meeting authorised the vestry to proceed with arrangements for the erection of the new vicarage. The plan and specification prepared by the vestry's architect provide for a modern five-roomed residence with every convenience. Tenders will be called and the contract will be let as soon as possible. The vestry is enabled to proceed with the work at the present time instead of waiting until the end of the year, through the generosity of one of its old members (Mr. F. H. Woodhouse), who has lent the £300 necessary to complete the financing of the present scheme.
The latter part of the evening took the form of a social, several enjoyable musical items having been arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Swinbank. The supper arrangements were in the capable hands of the vestrymen's wives.
