AEROPLANE TOUR.

MR. MUX VISITS WAIMATE. WIFE'S TOWN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIMATE, this day. Very appropriately the distinction of being the first woman to arrive in Wainiate by air fell to a former Waimate girl, in the person of Mrs. D. Mill, who accompanied her husband in the Moth aeroplane which landed at her Uncle, Mr. E. C. Studliolme's, homestead. at 5 p.m. yesterday after a flight of one hour and 35 minutes from Sockburn. A very large crowd witnessed the landing. Mrs. Mill was brought up in Waimate and lived here until some years ago. After visiting Oamaru to-day Mr. Mill will fly back to Christchurch to-morrow. EXPERTS TEST PLANE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. This morning Major T. M. Wilkes, Director of Aviation, and Captain J. L. Findlay and M. Buckley, of the Permanent Air Force, went up in Mr. Mill's Moth. Tests were made to find the machine's lowest flying speed, and the plane was flown safely at 40 miles an hour, a remarkably low speed for a lieavier-than-air type of machine. It was also found possible to land in a very restricted space. Both airmen praised the plane. Venezuela has granted a concession to British interests for the construction of a railway from deep water on the Orinoco River to the gold region in the State of Bolivar.
