BURIED THEASURE.

British Expedition Arrives In <# . Bolivia. SUPPOSED JESUITS' HOARD. VANCOUVER, April 2. A message from Arica, the most northerly port of Chile, says a quest for a large quantity of gold and silver supposed to have been burried in 1767 by Jesuits at Inquisivi, Bolivia, is the object of a British expedition which has arrived there. The party is headed by Professor Edgar Sanders, vice-president of the Royal South American Geological Society, London. —•(A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun.")

Toward the end of January last it was reported that buried treasure consisting of gold, silver, and diamonds, of an estimated value of was the fascinating objective of a band of explorers, who were shortly to set out for Bolivia, South America. Dr. Edgar Sanders, the leader of the expedition, said that he was aware that the Jesuits had mined and exported gold and silver to Europe regularly up till 1767, and it was likely that on being banished they continued, up to 1778, secreting hoards in one place, believing that they would be allowed to return. Dr. Sanders said that he held a document which told where the hiding place of certain treasure was. Previous digging operations had revealed a silver crucifix, and a parchment with a warning that a curse would be upon anybody proceeding further with the search. The workmen thereupon declined, to proceed. Dr. Sanders said that he was certain that he was on the right track of a big discovery.
