AMONG SAVAGES?

Expedition To Far Northern Australia. PERSONNEL OP PARTY. (Received 11.80 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Mr. Donald McKay, a prominent New South Wales grazier, will shortly lead *n exploration party through Arnheim J*nd in Northern Australia. Other ffiembers are Dr. Basedow, M.P., geologist and surveyor, Mr. Walter Sully, cmematographist, and Mr. Lovell, a South Australian. Mr. McKay says the object is to ascertain if the country is •uitable for tropical agriculture. The party starts to-day for Darwin and the journey is expected to extend to three months.

The present expedition will consist of five white men and a number of aboriginal "boys" from Darwin. *ne party will proceed to Katherine itiver, and thence north-eastwards through ■Arnheim Land to the Gulf of Carpentaria, and back to Katherine. From the lastnientioned point the expedition will be Practically lost to civilisation until its return. The aborigines in this region are powerful, and many savage murders have been committed. A photographer and a onematographer will make complete records of the tour.
