rXOHTXHG SCENES TO BE STAGED. PICTURE OF MAORI LIFE. Three thousand Maoris in battle array —what a spectacle! Fighting with 'all grimness, grit and determination of olden days, armed with the vile implements of war used in those days—and all for the reason that Universal Ltd., Universal City, Hollywood, California, are making a picture of Maori life. I Elaborate preparations are being made by Mr. Alexander Marky and his stall far the picture of Maori legend and life. Somewhere down in the Urewera Country—the exact location has not yet been decided—most of the film will be made. The location will all depend on what is considered by the camera men to be the most suitable spot for photography. Some "shots" will also be taken on White Island.
Mr. Marky expects that the photography of the film will be completed by the end of May. Then the cutting, titling, and editing will be done and the world premier of the picture will be made in New Zealand. Co-operation is being given Mr. Marky by the New Zealand Government, and he says that officials have done all they can to help him. The battle scenes will be enacted on April 21, 22 and 23.
