j With the completion of the C grade t matches on Saturday last, all inter-club 1 matches for the season were brought to • a close. Eden and Epsom, winners of j the knock-out competition, met and | defeated by six. matches to four, Papaj| toetoe, who were the winners of the j! play-all competition. In view of thfe j{ latter's decisive victory over Aratonga ij on the previous Saturday, and the fact ■ { that the ladies of that team are the ;] strongest in the grade, the odds were i! slightly in favour of Papatoetoe. The i| honours of the day must go to Miss j| Kennedy for her two-set victory over is Miss D. Bryant, who was expected to if gain a straight win over her younger j* and less experienced opponent." A win if in straight sets 'to Papatoetoe in this j match would have given them the con--2 test by twelve sets to eleven. Eden ! and were stronger in the men, | winning both men's singles and both doubles. The first ladies' singles went to Miss C. Bryant rather easily, as also did both the ladies' doubles matches. Each side took one combined match. Onehunga Club.

This club took the opportunity of wishing Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Ohlson au revoir and bon Voyage at a euchre and dance on Friday evening. Mr. and

Mrs. Ohlson leave shortly ou an exI tended tour abroad. Mr. Ohlson has been connected with the Oneliunga Club since ! its inception and has been an executive officer during practically the whole period, whilst his -activities on behalf of the Auckland Association and tennis generally are well known. On behalf of the Oneliunga Club Mr. M. Robb (president) made a presentation of a silver cigarette case and holder to Mr. Ohlson, Mrs. Robb presenting Mrs. Ohlson with a beautiful bouquet. Mr. E. Hickson, president of the Auckland Association, and Mr. G. L. Taylor, past president of the Onehnnpa Club, also spoke in glowing termjs of Mr. Ohlson's untirng efforts in the interests of the game. Stedman Beats Start.

A. Stedman again met and defeated N. Sturt at the Remuera Club* on Saturday in the final of the junior championship. He had previously beaten Sturt in the club championship in two hard sets, 12—10, 8 6. On the present occasion Stedman 6—2, 6—2. This is surely Stedman s season, for he has' some very fine victories to his credit. Peculiarly enough he and Knott have not crossed racquets this season. Such an encounter would interesting. By his performances this season, Stedman should be a serious contender for No. 1 ranking in Auckland tennis next year. Miss Macfarlane has won both the championship and handicap singles at the Remuera Club, defeating Miss Ramsay B—6, 6—3, in the former event, and Miss D. Wilson, owe 30, in the latter event. At Parnell Miss M. Potter -igain won the singles championship 1 bv defeating Miss P. Frankham, 6—l, 6—3, Three finals were played at the Eden and Epsom Club during the past wetk, Misses Knight and Clouston winning the championship doubles by defeating Misses Ramsay and Mueller, 6—2, 6—2. Miss Ramsay and Morrison won both the handicap and championship combined doubles. In the former event they won from Miss Whitelaw and Turner in straight sets, 6—4, 6—3. An interesting match took place for the combined championship when Miss Ramsay and Morrison defeated Miss Mueller and Knott, 2—6, 9—7, 7—5. The latter took the first set and actually had two match points in the second set, which thev e * entually lost at 9—7. Morrison took the lead early in the third set, 4—l being called in his favour, with his serve to follow, which he dropped. At 3 Morrison had match point on Knott's serve. Knott won this game and took Morrison's serve to 15 for 5 all. Miss Mueller and Knott lead 40—15 but lost the game with two bad misses at the net by Knott. After staving off yet another mat«h point, Miss Mueller and Knott eventually lost the game and the set at 7—5. Miss Ramsay played finely, while Knott attempted to cover too much court) He, however, made some splendid interceptions at the net. Morrison was consistently good. Miss Mueller lobbed well but was not aggressive enough. Morrison has performed very well indeed in club matches, as also has Miss Ramsay. The former has won in four events ; and the latter in three.
