THE . GROTTO: THE BUSINESS MAN'S RENDEZVOUS. "How About meeting me at the Grotto —you know, a few yards up Swanson Street 1 We can have a cup of coffee and a smoke and talk it over in peace where the phone won't interrupt." And so it happens that ten minutes taken off from business is not wasted. Perhaps an important deal results. In any case, the atmosphere is of the kind conducive to profitable conversation. The popularity of the Grotto is due to a large extent to its "atmosphere," for it is one of '.he fev* placos which is a cafe in the cosmopolitan sense. For one thing one can Braoke. The wafls aye raddle-red, and in tne doorway there is a miniature tobacconist's stall. _ Then they know how to make coffee .—no essences, but freshly ground from beans every day. And, of course, its location is quite unusual. Why t Well, it would be a good idea to go there for morning cofffee one of these days, or try it for afternoon tea, which is equally well served. Incidentally, they pub on an excellent three-course lunch for 1/6. Quite a lot of the tables are occupied by the same people every day. The Grotto becomes a habit.
