ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES. HEAVY FOG ENVELOPS COURSE. INTERFERES WITH WORK. COURSE PROPER OPENED AFTER BREAKFAST.

A very heavy fog overhung Ellerslie racecourse this morning and it was quite impossible to time any horses before ' the breakfast interval. No. 1 gras3 track was open and several horses (including Satrap and Money Order) were given strong work on it. The course proper, over three trestles out from the rails, was not opened till after breakfast, when tht fog had lifted. The Course Proper.

The first to work were Restaurant and Respirator, who jumped oil at the sevenfurlong post, Brampton joining in at the four. They ran the distance in 1.34 2-5, Restaurant appearing to go the befit.

Papatu and Princess Ronnie went a mile from the new post in 1.45 3-5. Papatu wa9 slightly ahead at the finish. The last six furlongs were run in 1.20 1-5. Bright Glow jumped off at the six-fur-long post and ran home in 1.21 3-5. She was not doinsr her be<t. Balnagar, Master Clements and Ossian were timed to run seven furlongs in 1.37, finishing a* named. Archeno sprinted six furlongs in 1.20 3 6. Awarere, carrying a good weight, jumped off at the seven-furlong post and ran the full distance in 1.30 3-5. The Evster Handicap candidate went exceptionally well. Raasay was not doing his best to run six furlongs in 1.22 1-5. Aussie sprinted home from the half mile post in 49 4-.>s. • Oesto ran five furlongs from the old post in 1.11. Melissa sprinted three furlongs in 38 3-5?.

The Fox sprinted from the mile post to the top of the straight, where he was pulled up. He was not timed.

Pompeius finished in front of Hone Keke at the finish of six furlongs, which occupied 1.22.

Lord Abbey ran home from the tliroefurlong post in 41 l-ss.

Justify was going better than Avoncourt at the end of five furlongs in 1.7 2.5.

Shortly after 11 o'clock Star Stranger (Ooldsboro) and Joy King (Gilmour) were brought to the course, and after Star Stranger had trotted Once round on the tan he was taken on to the course proper and galloped six furlongs with Joy King. From a good moving start they covered the first furlong In 13s, the second In 2fl 3-ss, third in 3d 3-3*, and completed the full distance in 1.18 1-5. Star Stranger was about * neck in front at the finish, but both went exceptionally well. Joy King was being held back to Star Stranger during the early part of the journey, and this allowed Star Stranger to hold his own over the latter part of the journey.

Ob the Tan. Hipo and Oration did strong work on the tan. The Jumpers. Mountain Guide (H. Dulieu) jumped a few pony hurdles. Mashoor (Regan) and Memsahib (Henderson) gave a good display over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Lucilius (Olive) and Gar2on (Nixon) were also schooled over the fences on the flat, both tfiving a good displuy. Luxurious (H. Dulieu) and Ardnalea (Williams) were sent over a round of the schooling htirdlps, and jumped safely. Nola Night (Olive) jumped several pony hurdies without, mistake. Kamehameha (McNeill) and Master Doon (Henderson) gave a good display over the schooling hurdles, Master Doon jumping well. I'ekatahi (Hastings) air' Sea Comet (Holland) jumped a couple of schooling hurdles, the former giving a good exhibition.

Wiggins will ride Laughing Prince and Princess Ronnie; W. H. Jones, Siao«i, Papatu and Justify; H. Dulieu, Luxurious. and A. Tinker Staghunter, at the Auckland meeting. Barrier Practice. This morning at Ellerslie, the following horses were exercised at tlio barrier and sprinted a few furlongs: Tea Money, Jollie Money. The Fox, Bulolo, Sy'varun, Roma Pearl, Winsome Girl, Miss" Myrtle, Kotahi, and Valquette.
