FALL DOWN CLIFF.
ELDERLY HAN INJURED. IRON RAIL STRIKES WORKMAN. Through falling 15ft down a cliff on to the rocks below at Point Chevalier yesterday afternoon, Mr. John Hodgkinson, aged 79, who resides at St. Michael's Avenue, Point Chevalier, received a fracture of the pelvis. He was taken by the St. John Ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, where he was admitted in a fairly serious condition. The injured man was climbing on the face of the cliff and was about halfway up when he fell. Owing to the serious nature of his injuries • and the steepness of the cliff his removal was difficult. He was placed on a stretcher and gradually raised to the top by the united efforts of four men. His condition to-day was reported to be comfortable. Concussion was sustained by Mr. A. McNeill, aged 24, of 110, Calliope Road, Devonport, through being struck by an iron rail at the Auckland Iron "Works, Bronte Street, City, where he is employed. Mr. McNeill was engaged in shifting heavy rails when one of them fell on him. He was taken by the St. John Ambulance to + he Auckland Hospital, and to-day his condition was considered not Berious. He waß reported to be ra 'king satisfactory progress.
