MAURICE MOSCOVITCH SEASON. To-morrow morning at 9 o'clock the bos plans will be opened for the approaching season of Maurice Moscovitch and t:ie J. C. Williamson. Ltd.. Dramatic Company, who will make their appearance at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday nicht next in the first New Zealand production oi Eilcar Wallace's thrilling and mystifying drama "The Rinjrer." Mr. Moscovitch established himself as an actor of extraordinary ability, but it is now said that his dramatic genius is presented at its very best in the role of Maurice Meister.

"The Ringer" is a dramatised version or Edgar Wallace's most popular and most thrilling detective yarns. Of its type, this mystery play is said to be a masterpiece. It- has real mystery, abundant humour and swiftly moving incident. It is said that the Williamson, Ltd.. management spared neither money nor expense in getting together a particularly powerful company of dramatic and comedy Artists to support Mr. Moscovitch. even going the extent of bringing irom London Mr. Patric Cnrwen. who played the part of Doc-tor Lomond with great success in England, a success he repeated in Australia. Mr. Xat Madison has already given us several excellent characterisations during his former visits to Xew Zealand, but it is said that he. too. lias achieved hi 6 best success in "The Ringer." Other popular artists in the company are Ashtoa •Tarry, Reginald Xewson. George Blunt, Pack Dunne and Miss Mary Mar-iresror, who plays the invnortant part of Cora Ann Milton. Miss Bertha Riccardo, Miss Mildred C-ottell and Herbert Leigh. Only a limited number of performances can be given of "The Ringer," as during the season will also be staged "The Terror" which proved a worthy rival to "The in Sydney and Melbourne. The Municipal Band, conducted by Mr. Christopher Smith, was heard in an enjoyable programme of music- in the Town Hall last evening. Brightly rendered was Egerton's "Third Battalion" march, and a light and tripping delivery was given of Suppe's '"Light Cavalry" overture. Montague Phillips' "Jig." "Gavotte." "Graceful Dance"' and "Villagers' Dance" received interesting performances: and Wood's march. Adams'

'"Airs de Ballet"' and Verdi's movements from "Lombardi," were other acceptably rendered items. Messrs F. Bowes and R. T. Morgan were warmly acclaimed after their effective treatment of Mayr'a '"Birds of the Forest'*' for cornet duet. NEW HIPPODROME THEATRE.

There is plenty of variety in the fine vaudeville programme which has been arranged for presentation at the Xew Hippodrome Theatre this evening. Heading the bill, there will be an entertainment by the Savoyau.- - . who c-otne direct irom the Savoy Club Ballroom. The band includes a leader bnnjoist. pianist, saxophonist. trombone player, trumpeter, and drummer. That tine Western star. Tom Mix. has played many roles, but in '"Silver Valley.'' the chief picture attraction, he appears for the first time as an airman-cowboy. There are plenty of thrills throughout the story of this film, and of the many opportunities which Mix has, lie makes the most. Tony, of course, plays his usually important part. Dorothy Dwan appears again as the leading ]ady, and other featured players are l'hilo McCullough, Tom Kennedy, and Clarke Comstock.
