MOUNT EGMONT RESORTS.
ADDITIONS TO HOSTELRY. MINISTER'S CONGRATULATIONS. (By Tclograpli—l'ress Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. Additions to the North Egmont hostelry, in the form of a commodious new lounge and minor improvements, which cost £1970, were officially opened yesterday by the Minister in charge of the Tourist Department, the Hon. W. Noswort h v.
The Minister complimented the people of New Plymouth for guaranteeing and actually subscribing a large part of the various sums, culminating in £10.000 being raised. A company was recently formed to carry out the improvements which were opened yesterday, and also to popularise the mountain resort Inlaying out tennis courts, erecting a billiard room and installing a wireless set.
The Minister also expressed pleasure at the progress of the new mountain road, which winds through four miles of beautiful bush, which is being relaid and bitumenised to carry two-way traffic right up to the hostel.
