TRANSACTIONS ON 'CHANGE. During the past week inquiry was made for shares in the Westport-Stockton Coal Company, and this morning sales took place at 2/ for the ordinary, and 3/2 for the preference issue. Other coal shares are wanted at late rates. Moanataiari shares sold this morning at 1/9 for fully paid issue. Colonial Sugar shares could still be placed at £58, P. and 0. deferred stock at £235, and New Zealand Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock at £100. Buyers of Wliittome-Stevenson shares advanced their offers to 45/ this morni»K- Wilson's Cement are now wanted at 37/9, but sellers aslj» another threepence. BUSINESS DONE. AT THE 10 A.M. The average rate allowed in London by ' bankers on deposits during 1927 was £2 13/ per c;ent, as compared with £3 per 1 cent in 1926, and the average rates for , day-to-day loans were £3 14/6 per cent during 1927, as compared with £3 19/11 ] per cent during 1926. The average discount rate on three months' bankers' bills was ; £4 4/10 per cent in 1927, as compared with £4 10/3 per cent in 1926. 1 KAURI GUM.
