RIFLE SHOOTING.
AKARANA CLUB. Members of the above club commenced their final trophy series at Penrose rifle range over tlie ranges of COO and 700 yards for trophies presented by Mr. T. Elliott (sen.), Mr. D. Calder and Mr. J. It. Drallin. A light rear-lislitail wind caused trouble with elevation, but some good shooting was registered. Silver spoons were won by Mr. A. C. Crossan and Mr. F. Ellett. CITY AND SUBURBS CLUB. There was a good attendance of the City Club at Penrose 011 Saturday when 000 and 700 yds were tired. Scoring was not high, the'best performance being that of L. F. Verrall, who topped the elub off the rifle and won by eleven points with his handicap, a very fine shoot for one so young. He and J. A. Spry won a spoon each. A. T. Patrick is now in the lead for the championship with an aggregate for 538, fol lowed by Russell with 530 and Verrall with 535. Detailed results are :— A Grade.—H. J. Verrall 44, 42—86 ;A. L. B. Grade. —L. F. Verrall (rec. 12), 44, 43 —00; H. W. Cozens (rec. 7), 4S, 39 — 88; G. W. Long (rec. 25), 35. 28—88; S. Griffiths (ree. 5), 40. 31 —70; H. W. Verrall (scr), 37, 38 —-75; I. Spry (rec. 3), 33, 38 —74; G. Patrick (rec. 25), 33, 14—72; C. C. Watt (rec. 12), 35, 19—66. Mr. H. C. Choyce's trophy was won by A. T. Patrick with eight points, R. C. Russell being next with six and H. J. Verrall third with four. The B grade trophy presented by Mr. G. Brownlee was won by H. W. Cozens with six points, others who scored well being I. Spry live, H. W. Verrall four and S. Griffiths and L. F. Verrall 'I' ree each.
