OVERSEAS RUGBY.
The Dominions Getting Together. IS IT A DANGER SIGNAL? LONDON, March 30.
Information has been received from South Africa that an attempt is to be made during the tour of the All Blacks to convene a meeting of representatives of the Rugby Unions of South; iAfri?a r New Zealand and New South Wales to discuss what they regard as the extremely unsatisfactory state of affairs now existing. Commenting on this news Mr. C. W. Packford, writing in "Sporting Life," expresses the opinion that this is a danger signal.
The writer says he oelieves it will mean a complete break with the International Board. This would not matter much, he says, as long 'rfs association is retained with the English,. Rugby Union, which should, be represented at the meeting'.* ' •
"Sporting Life," in an editorial, says: There is little doubt that Dominion" Rugby circles are determined. nQ. longer to submit to the indignity of being treated by the International Board as though they were completely incapable of assisting in the government, of the game. The attitude of the "board is rendering a disservice to Rugby throughout the Empire. It is generally hoped that the Rugby Union will come, to the rescue and prevent a regrettable, aplit betv.een the ! unions and those iu authority in England* »-• **
