TREATY WRANGLE.
Canada's Rejection Of Egyptian Pact. CONTROVERSY CONTINUES. LONDON, March 30.
The Marquess of Salisbury, in answer to a question in the House of Lords about Mr. Mackenzie King's speech, said the Dominions were fully informed throughout the negotiations for the Anglo-Egvptian Treaty. They were not asked to share in the responsibility for the treaty, but to concur in the general policy embodied in it. Lord Salisbury said it would not be In the public interest to publish the frank exchange of views with the Dominions, and it was not proposed to discuss the very difficult subject of the relations between Britain and the Dominions.
It is understood that Britain regards the treaty as practically dead, but Ministers are not concerned because it means a reversion to pre-treaty conditions.
