The earteon in the "Star" of March J4 depicting "Australia as Taught" jg very interesting to an Australian. It has come under my notice on many occasions since bit arrival in the Dominion how very little m known by the average Xe„ ZealanVSj^! e position of the varjon, States cities and important towns in Austin ha, not to mention smaller towns correspond!]!* to Hamilton and Feilding. Quite rewntSl listened to a discussion on Australian matter* between a New Zealand woman and h,v wi£ During the discussion the State of Taiman£ was mentioned by my wife, who is an Austr*. lian, and the other lady 6aid, ves Ta*, mania is in Sydney, isn't it?" My wife,"bein* of a humorous disposition, said, "Oh yes it? beon there quit. . time noivery little js taught in the Dominion schools about the island continent across the Tasman. BALLARAT.
