VITAL STATISTICS.
LESS BIRTHS THIS MONTH. INCREASE IN MARRIAGES. A fall in the number of births and an increase in the marriages are the chief impressions given by the vital statistics for the past month, when comparison is made with March last year. The comparative figures are. 1927 totals being in peren theses: Births, 2SS (331)' ileaths, 139 (147); marriage licenses, 209 (ISG). Included in the marriajre licenses were 41 for ceremonies performed by the registrar during the month just closing and 40 for March 1927. The quarterly figures, January to March, are as follows:— 1925. 1927.
