RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND 'VARSITY TEAM. HASLAM SHIELD COMPETITION. The form of the Auckland University College rifle team in shooting yesterday for the Haslam shield,_ the inter-'varsity trophy, was disappointing. The conditions were good, but the marksmen, with the exception of K. J. Duncan, failed to take advantage of them. The practices were: Five shots application at 200 yards, five shots at 300 yards, at 200 yards, ten shots rapid at' 300 yartls, and seven snots application at 500 yards. The teams' total was 773.
Details of the scores are as folows: K. J. Duncan, 23, 23, 39, 29—114; G E. Watt, 22, 16, 43. 27—108; L. H. Heslop, 22, 19, 36, 29—106; A. G. Lowe, 22, 14, 36, 29—101 ; W. R. Simpson, 22, 23, 25, 28 —98 ; I. D. Symington, 20, 13. 32, 30— 95 ; P. C. Griffiths, 24. 6, 31, 15—76 ; R. L. Munro, 23, 3, 26, 23 —75.
