BOOM IN DUNEDIN. AUSTRALASIAN FEATHER TITLE. DUNEDIN, this day. Norman Gillespie, the Australian featherweight champion, makes his tirst appearance in Dunedin on April 14. when he will l>e opposed to Tommy Griffiths. Gillespie will have had heaps of time to settle down by then, and local fans are eagerly awaiting this contest as giving some indication of the likely outcome of the bout between Gillespie and Johnny Leckie on April 28. This contest is practically an Australian and New Zealand feather-weight title bout, as the contestants are both champions of their respective countries. Gillespie has given the Otago Boxing Association first opportunity of a match with his recent rival. Tommy Barber, but whether or not such contest can be consummated depends upon Gillespie getting sufficient contests to keep him in New Zealand till Barber conies over to Dunedin in May. Leg Anthony, a well-performed featherweight. may be brought over after Barber's contests have been staged. Anthony states that If he comes over, Gordon Kiely (the middle-weight who defeated Lachlie Macdonnlrt) may also come. Such a boom as is being experienced at present has not been witnessed for years.
