FRENCH SLOOP CASSIOPEE.

VISIT TO AUCKLAND. BALL AT GOVERNMENT HOUSE. M. Paul Serre, Vice-Consul for France, lias received advice froi-i Commander P. Auverney that his vessel, the Cassiopee will reach Lyttelton to-day, and will ti«ke her departure on April 2 for Auckland. The Cassiopee is due here at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, and will berth at the wharf immedately. On Good Friday morning, the commander, four officers and forty-eight ©tier ratings, will leave for Rotorua, returning on Monday evening. On Tuesday morning, the Cassiopee will enter Calliope, for the purpose of undergoing overhaul. The same morning, a party of ship's officers will leave for Waitomo and will be accompanied by Mr. James Hislop, undersecretary for Internal Affairs, who will represent the Government. The party will return on Thursday morning. On Wednesday evening arrangements • have been made lor the French Club to entertain the visitors, and on Thursday, April 12, a ball will be held at Government House.
