A COUNTRY TRIP.
AUCKLAND SIDE AT RODNEY.
A most enjoyable trip to Matakana, in | the Rodney County, was made by an Auckland eleven on Wednesday. Leaving the ci/ty, vja Birkenhead, at 7 a.m., the team arrived at Matakana in time to start play at 11 o'clock. The home side batted first, and made an excellent start against the Aucklandens' bowling, the first three men putting on over 130 runs. With 210 on the board, Rodney, with eight wickets down, declared the innings closed. The principal scorers were W. Dunning 78, E. Wyatt 53 (retired), and P. Dunning 23. Martin was the most successful of the visiting bowlers. Auckland also opened fairlywell, but in the fading light wickets fell fast, and when stumps were drawn they had lost nine wickets for 147. Duncan topped the eoores with 55, while Martin (30) and Archer (23) also got into double figures. The game thus ended in a draw, with the honours in the home side's favour. OTAGO V. NORTH OTAGO.

OAMARU, Friday. The one-day representative cricket match between North Otago and Otago, resulted in a draw. Otago batted first, and was dismissed for 153. North Otago compiled 177. Inder gave an aggressive display for 52. Stumps were drawn early to allow the visitors to catch the train and the game was a draw.
