POOR KNIGHTS ISLANDS.
MAORI CLAIMS OWNERSHIP.

WHANGAREI, Wednesday. The claim of Pouaka Wehi Wehi to possession by natural succession of the Poor Knights Islands was mentioned again to-day at a sitting of the Tokerau Native Land Court.
Judge Acneson stated that a definite settlement had been promised, but as none of the Maori people interested had gone to Auckland to search through old records and papers there no further progress had been made. He did not suggest that the claims to the islands should be abandoned, but thought it should be ascertained whether the Crown in its own interests would rive un its claim. r
