HENDERSON AFFAIRS.
The monthly meeting of the Henderson Town Board was held on Tuesday night, all the members being present. The chairman, Mr. E. G. Rountree, presided. Mr. W. T. R. Leighton, who. was elected to fill the vancancy caused by the death of Mr. B. F. Cranwell, took hie seat for the first time and was welcomed by the chairman.
Mr. H. Norcross was granted six months leave of absence as he is about to leave on a trip to England, and the board placed upon record its appreciation of the services rendered by Sir. Nor cross. The board approved of the resolution passed at the conference of local bodies held to consider the attitude to be taken towards the proposed commission on transport, that the only solution to the transport problem" which would give satisfaction was the formation of an elected transport board. ' '
An electric syren 4 av calling together the members of the fire brigade in case of fire was approved, and it will be installed at the Town Hall.
The foreman reported that during the month the drains in Valley Road had been cleaned out. Footpaths and watertables in Thomas, Henry and Catherine Streets and Station Roads had received attention. Fifteen yards of shell had been spread on the View Road footpaths, and the same quantity on Te Atatu Road. The bridge over the Oratia Stream on View Road had been repaired and steps to provide the means of access to the beach at Falls Park had been erected. All meters had been read and five new onee installed. The building inspector reported that the value of permits for buildings issued during the month amounted to £1605.
