MARLBOROUGH THREE FOR FIFTY.! RAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY. (By Telegraph. Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON N„ this day. The contest between Marlborough and Manawatu for the Hawk Cup was resumed this morning. Manawatu, in the first innings, had scored 333. Marlborough (two for 18) continued their first innings. Runs came slowly until the score was 20, when Reid was stumped by Norris. Miller filled the vacancy. A tine drive by Miller saw the score reach 50, at which stage a heavy shower necessitated a temporary cessation of play with three wickets down. Three Wickets for 161. After two and a-half hours' play 100 had been scored. Several changes in bowlers were made without success. At 12.45 a score of 150 was on the board. Marlborough continued to score at a fair pitce. At the luncheon adjournment the score was 161 for three wickets —Murchison, not out, 66; Pierpoint, b McVicar, 0; O'Sullivan, b McVicar, 0; Reid, st Norris, b McVicar, 9; Miller, not out, 82; extras, 4.
