COCKTAIL CROWN

FINDING THE KING.

Taste Fails After 23 Samples

Tested.

JUDGES' DILEMMA.

(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.)

(Received 10.30 a.m.)

PARIS, February 7.

The International Barmen's Union organised a competition to decide what was the best cocktail creation. At the only previous competition there were 40 entries, but this year there were 300.

This number raised an unforeseen problem, as after the judges had sampled 23 entries they unexpectedly withdrew.

When they returned they announced that it was beyond human capacity to taste more than 20 or 30 cocktails, as after that all tasted alike.

At first the judges attempted to work in relays but each relay gave up the task of attempting to reach a decision. Finally it was resolved that new judges must he appointed to decide the matter from the recipes.
