MAGISTRATE COURT CASES.

(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, this day. When restoration of licensing was carried in Ohinemuri the hotels were required to in.stal a septic tank system. In the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon the Waihi Borough Council sought to recover the sum of £o4 from John Mounsey. sanitary contractor for the borough. Mounsey made a counter-claim for £100 damages, owing to the loss of revenue which he alleged was due to the installation of septic tanks in the Waihi hotels. After hearing the evidence in the first case the magistrate said he would reserve judgment in both cases. Only one witness was called in the counter-claim. John Weddon, proprietor of the Rob Roy Hotel, said the Licensing Committee and the police had notified him that the septic system must be installed. He agreed that the previous system was not suitable for hotels. Woman "Crazy For Drink." A married woman was charged in the Tolice Court on two counts with breaking •End entering, and the theft of three doatti bottles of beer, valued at £3 12/. . On Sergeant Calwell's application the charge was reduced to one of common theft. The sergeant said accused had been friendly ■with the complainant and when the latter ■was absent from home she entered the house twice, taking three dozen bottles of beer on each occasion. Counsel for accused said her family were most respectable, but she was craiy for drink. The magistrate agreed to admit her to probation for 12 months, provided she paid the expenses. Her name was suppressed.
