PALMEIISTON NORTH, Tuesday.

Professor G. S. Teren, of Victoria University College, Wellington, Wfts appointed to-day to the position of principal of the Massey Agricultural College,

Applications were received from jreat Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Professor Peren is a Canadian, born in Toronto ancl educated at Toronto University. For five years lie studied at Guelph College, aud for live years engaged in mixed farming in Ontario. In 1914 h c was appointed Dominion entomologist, Ontario. After serving in the war, he was engaged on the staff of the E. Mailing Agricultural Research Station, in Kent, England. He became an inspector under the Ministry of Agriculture, and later undertook work at the research station at Bristol. Ho joined the staff of the Victoria University College in 1924, but subsequently the Victoria and Auckland Colleges agreed that one agricultural school should be established, and Palmerston North was chosen by the Government as the site.

BUSINESS OF COUNCIL.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, Tuesday.

The council of the Massey Agricultural College met to-day, when the Hon. George Fowlds was re-elected chairman.

Ten tenders were received for the dairy factoiy. These were fully considered, and a resolution passed, which will be published after consultation with the Department.

The registrar of Victoria University College advised that his council had amended the regulations for the Farmers' Union scholarship so as to permit the scholarship to be open to students of the Massey College, and, further, that no residential restrictions would be placed on candidates.
