The fire had a good hold when it was discovered by the caretaker, whose prompt action in calling the brigade and using a hose prevented the lain<*s from spreading. They were confined to the part of the building used for storing bulk spare parts and second-hand vehicles. Four cycles, 23 cars and trucks and' nine cases of motor accessories and pumpe were more or less damaged. Approximately £4000 worth of damage was done to stocks, and about £2000 to the building. The building was insured for £9000. the cars for £11,600, and the general sfock for £S4OO, all in the United Office.
