HUNUA WATERSHED.
TAKAPUNA PARTY'S VISIT.
STEADY FLOW IN STREAM. The chief impression gained from a visit to the Hunua district yesterday by a Takapuna Borough Council party, including the Mayor (Mr. J. W. Williamson). was the scope offered by the country below the Hunua Falls for a large impounded lake.
In going to Ilunua. the party's aim was to investigate the possibilities of this source as a water supply, and, although the visit was of an impromptu nature, the watershed was considered sufficiently important to call for further attention from the council. It was not possible to go into the main portion of the Hunua catchment yesterday, but at the falls the flow of the stream was found to be satisfactory after a long period of drought, and a site some distance below the falls was regarded as a promising spot for a dam, as the basinshaped lake that could be formed by impounding water in that vicinity would give a large storage capacity.
