TOBACCO THIEVES.

IN ONEHUNGA SHOP.

BIG HAUL OF CIGARETTES

OVER £-30 WORTH STOLEN.

The shop of Mr. John Wynn, tobacconist, situated in the heart of Queen Street, Onehunga, was entered last night and cigarettes worth £u0 or more taken away, and about for shilling's worth of coppers. Mr. Wynn made the discovery this morning when he vent to open his shop at So'c-lock. Tlic thief, or thieves, had evidently put their plunder in a sack which had contained chaff, as particles of this stuff could be traced along the floor and through the billiard saloon at the rear of the shop, down through the cellar to the back door, which was unlocked. It is surmised that nn entrance to the premises was made through the back door. There is an entrance to the billiard saloon from Queen Street at the side of the shop. The door of this passage, as well as the door of the shop, was locked as usual when Mr. Wynn went to the place this morning. But the inner door leading out of the tobacconist shop into the billiard saloon, and the inside door parallel with this from the side entrance to the saloon were both open. Mr. Wynn left the place shortly after one o'clock yesterday after carefully locking all the doors and seeing that everything was safe. The robbery was reported to Sergenat P. Felton as soon as it was discovered.
