THE DAVIS CUP.
PROBABILITIES OF THE N.Z. TEAM,
AUCKLANDERS MENTIONED,
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
C'HRISTC'HURCH, Saturday.
The "Star." in an editorial, says that New Zealand's late entry in the Davis Cup contest comes as a surprise, although it was strongly urged by Jean Borotra during his recent visit. The presence in England of E. D. Andrews, last year's New Zealand champion, may be taken as an indication that he will certainly ■ a member of the team, and it is to he hoped that another young player will be sent Home so that the Dominion will be a serious competitor, and will not be relying 011 weak chance representation, as was the case when a scratch team was assembled on the occasion of the first entry. The New Zealand Association has strong enough financial resources to send another Xew Zealander Home, and if the visit is to have any value at all, it would be advisable to choose a young player, preferably Knott, who has just beaten Bartleet and Dr. Laurenson in the Auckland championships; Sturt, whose game is very highly praised by Borotra; "\\ ilson, or even D. G. France, of Wellington, or Seay or Angas, of Canterburv.
