POWER BOAT PICNIC.

OUTBOARD MOTOR RACE,

SUCCESSFUL RELIABILITY TEST

In connection with the Power Boat Association's picnic at Robertson Point on Saturday a race for outboard motor boats was held. A start was made from Kincr's wharf at 1.30 p.m., the course being round the Sandspit Beacon, thence to the beacon off Birkdale wharf and from there up the Whau Creek to the picnic ground at Robertson Point. Some of the competitors stopped en route to refill tanks and thus lost a few minutes. Others refilled with the engines still running. A large number of launches had made the trip up the Whau, and at the conclusion of the race sports for the crews and dinghy races were held, an enjoyable picnic programme being indulged in till sunset.
