SUMMER MEETING CONCLUDES,

ARAZOXE LIFTS TOXRS' STAKES

- 'V • The Egmcmt Racing Club's Summer Meeting was concluded in fine weather, 3efore another large attendance. The :raek was hard and fast. The totalizator handled £22,121 for the day, a decrease og £3(>3 10/ compared with the corresponding day last, reason, making the total for the two lays £44,713, compared with £44,358 10/ last year, an increase of £1.">4 10/. In the Okaiuwa Hurdles Flowing Bowl •rashed at the last fence, and the rider, P. llolman, sustained injuries to his right hip. He was sent to hospital for in X-rav examination. Nucleus Again Victorious. All started in the hurdles. Nucleus md Powhiri made the early running, the attcr leading through the straight from Nucleus. At the back the order of the caders \yas Nucleus, Powhiri, San Fera ind Polyphemus. Entering the straight Nucleus was in front from Powhiri, San b'era and Polyphemus. In the run home Nucleus drew out ,to win by three engths from San Fera, who beat Blue Peter by half a length. Powhiri was fourth and Polyphemus next. The Favourite Wins. Only five started in the Waimatc Handicap. Oraticjji began badly. Vast Acre was first to show out from Town Bird. The latter led crossing the top from Vast Acre, with Royal Ceres next, Acre led into the straight and won by a length and a-ha!f from Royal Ceres, ivith Oration a neck away third. Tip Tree was fourth. Mendip's Trial. Upoko was the popular pick for the Trial Hack, Mendip being next in demand. Fortalice began best, King Mart being next. At the turn the latter took charge and had Fortalice and Alan Brae Lip with him entering the straight. The lace home ended in favour of Mendip by a length and a-half from King Mart, with Upoko the same- distance away third, Fortalice fourth. The Big Money, The seven acceptors all lined up for the Tonks Stakes. Greengrocer £771, Yoma £489, and Euphonium £420, being best backed. Sleepy Sol made the early running from Vivo, but the latter led down the back from Sleepy Sol, with Orazone next, then came Hipo and Yoma. As they crossed the top Vivo led from Orazone, Sleepy Sol, Yoma and Greengrocer. As they .turned into the straight Orazone was well clear of Vivo, with Yoma next, and Greengrocer closing up. In the run to the judge Orazone stalled off a challenge, from Greengrocer to win by a length, with Yoma a neck away. Euphonium was fourth. Ned Kelly Beaten. Yawl was withdrawn from the Meremere Hack. Keddar was made a good favourite, Ned Kelly also being well backed. The latter made the pace to the straight, where Paul Lucerne was running second and Royal Acre next. A good finish saw Paul Lucerne win by half a length from Ned Kelly. Royal Acre was four lengths away, just in front of Onward. Manly Toe Good For Tiega. Sleepy Sol t>as withdrawn from the Xormanby Handicap, leaving seven to face the starter, Tiega was made slightly better favourite than Beaumont. Orcades was first to begin, and led down the back from Manly, Glengariff, Seastar, Beaumont, and Tiega. Approaching the half-mile Tiega and Monaghan closed up. Crossing the top Manly led from Orcades and Tiega, and entering the straight Manly was still in front from Tiega, with Monaghan next. Manly held his own in the run home to win by half a length from Tiega, who beat Beaumont by four lengths. Monaghan was fourth. Great Run by Tea Miss. Boundary was slow away in the Electric Handicap. Lady Quex stumbled at the start, losing her rider and interfering with Fermanagh. Gold Dawn took up the running from Le Champs and Tea Miss. Le Champs led into the straight from Gold Dawn and Tea Miss. The last named came with a great run to beat Le Champs by a head. Gold Dawn was three lengths away, third.
