FROZEN MEAT.
PRICES AT SMITHFIELP.
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board has received the following cable from its London Office, dated February 3, advising Smithfield delivered prices at that date as follows:—
New Zealand Wethers and Maidens.— Canterbury quality, selected brands, old season, 561b and under, 6Vid per lb; 571b to 641b, 6d; 651b to 721b. S'/id; other brands (new season). 561b and under, 6v4d; 571b to 641b, 6d: 651b to 721b, oVid. New Zealand Lambs. —Canterbury quality, selected brands, new season. 361b and under. 10% d; 371b to 421b, 10%. Other brands, finsi quality. 361b and under, 9%d; 371b to 421b, lOd: second quality, 301b to 321b average, 9V*d. Australian Lambs. —Victorian, first quality, 361b and under, 9d. Argentine Lambs.—First Quality, 361b and under, 7Vid; 371b to 421b. 7^d.
New Zealand Beef.—Ox fores, 3%d; hinds, sd; cow fores, hinds, 4d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores, 4 J /id; hinds, 6%d.
Argentine Frozen Beef.—Ox fores, 3%d; hinds. 5%d.
Frozen Pork.—Porkers. 601b to SOlb, 7Vad; 811b to 991b, 7d: 1001b to 1201b, 6%d; baconers, 1211b to 1801b. 69id.
Lambe.—Market steady, present light arrivals are sufficient to supply market. Mutton Market.—Wethere, heavyweights slightly weaker. There ie a good demand for lightweights. Beef Market.—Owing to better price* of Argentine chilled beef there ha« been a better demand for New Zealand beef. Frozen Pork.—Market etill overloaded with 801b to 1201b sorts; for 1201b to 1801b, demand is better owing to improvement in bacon prices.
