PHENOMENALLY FINE WEATHER

INVERCARGILL, this day,
Advice received at the whalers' base states that ships now in the Ross Sea secured 14,000 barrels of oil before passing the ice barrier., The ice was negotiated much earlier this season, and the whales were so numerous that the Sir James Clark Ross expected to return earlier than her scheduled time. Phenomenally fine summer weather was being the Antarctic.
