END OF A VIVID CAREER
NEW YORK. February 1. A message from Miami, Florida, says the boxing promoter, Mr. Tex Rirkard, confirms tho rumours that Jack Dempsey has been dropped from further consideration for another match against Gcno Tunney, the present heavv-weipht champion. Dempsey probably would never fight again. It is understood the injury to an eye and the heavy punishment he received in the last two contests with Tunney are responsible for this.
RICKARD ANNOUNCES.
TUNNEY TO FIGHT IN JUNE. (Received 11 a.m.* MIAMI (Florida), February 1. Tex Rickard announced on Wednesday that Dempsey has permanently retired and that Tunney will defend his title in June against the winner of the Sharkey - Heeney and Risko - Delaney elimination contests. A paragraph published in Los Angeles reads: "That's line, O.K. with me. If my injured eye muscle improves I may tight again or I may not. - ' Dempsey declared in reference to the Miami report.— (A. and N.Z. and Sydney "Sun.")
