ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.
ONE MONTH FOE THEFT.
Frederick Arthur Scanlon, aged 29, pleaded guilty in the Police Court this morning before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., to, at Papakura on January 21, attempting to commit suicide, and also of theft.
Senior Sergeant Cummings stated that accused had been working in the district and on the day in question had obtained a piece of rope and tied it to a fence and then tried to strangle himself. After being taken into custodv he had thrown himself violently against the wall of the cell. He had in 1921 been sentenced to four years' imprisonment for manslaughter. He had a very violent temper and it would be advisable to put him away for a period.
On the chaigc of attempted suicide lie was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and on the theft charge he was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. ~~
