MAU BOYCOTTS.
LATEST DEVELOPMENT Ominous Parade In Apia Streets. MR. GURR'S DILEMMA. (By Cable. Association.—Copyright.) APIA, Januax-y 27. The latest development of the Mau movement is a boycott of storekeepers throughout Samoa. One hundred of the Mau men, in uniform and carrying big sticks, are parading the streets of Apia, and are preventing the Samoans from patronising the stores in Apia. The police have warned the Mau that their action is illegal, and further developments are expected. The failure of Mr. G. W. Gurr to leave Samoa within the allowed 30 days has rendered him liable to arrest, but parole has been granted to him, on condition that he keeps out of Apia and communicates with none of the natives, and that he leaves by the Tofua for New Zealand in February.
Mr. Gurr announces that he will settle in American Samoa, but the American Governor; Captain E. S. Kellogg, has announced that Mr. Gurr will not be allowed to land there.
